It can be hard to tell if an older person is being abused or neglected, but there are some signs to look out for. First, it’s important to know that abuse comes in many forms - physical, emotional, sexual, financial and neglect. While there are signs, they are not necessarily proof of abuse, however they may signal that there is a problem.
Abused seniors are typically unable to report the abuse and can remain isolated for long periods of time. If you do suspect elder abuse (even if you are not sure), it is important to file a report with Adult Protective Services online or in person at Tucson Police Department.
