The Tucson Medical Center Emergency Department was the first of seven planned locations to receive a public health vending machine from the Pima County Health Department.

The self-serve vending machine offers free and easy access to lifesaving resources including Naloxone, fentanyl test strips, menstrual products, gun locks and wound care kits. The vending machine is available for the public to access, regardless if they are TMC patients or not.

“This partnership with the Pima County Health Department is a great example of our shared commitment to removing barriers to care,” said Julia Strange, Vice President External Affairs and Brand, TMC Health. “We’re seeing firsthand in our Emergency Department how critical these needs are, and offering easy, free access to these lifesaving resources helps us respond in real time while supporting the safety of our community.”

A second vending machine is located at the downtown branch of the Pima County Public Library. Five additional machines will be placed at various locations throughout Tucson.

“Access to resources means saving lives,” said Brian Eller, Division Manager, Community Mental Health and Addiction, Pima County Health Department. “Having these vending machines in spaces where they can make a big impact is a great win for Pima County, helping us meet people where they are at to reduce preventable death and harm in our region.”
