Dr. Jayanth Manoharan is a general surgeon who values teamwork when it comes to making health care decisions. "I work together with my patients and their families so they feel empowered to ask questions and make informed decisions about their plan of care," he said. "I like to think of them as teammates with the same goal." Dr. Manoharan grew up in a family of doctors. Their example and his desire to help people inspired him to become a surgeon. Born and raised in India, Dr. Manoharan graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and then moved to the United States where he completed his internship and general surgery residency at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University in Michigan. He has extensive training in the full scope of general surgery, including minimally invasive robotic surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. On completion of his medical training, he moved to Tucson with his family. Dr. Manoharan’s practice includes abdominal wall hernia, gallbladder, intestinal, skin and soft tissue, perianal and breast procedures, as well as endoscopy and various biopsies. When he’s not at work, Dr. Manoharan enjoys reading, being outdoors and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
