Breastfeeding basics class
Expectant parents, prepare for successful breastfeeding with our Breastfeeding Basics class. This class is taught by Tucson Medical Center registered nurses who are internationally board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLC) and specialize in advising mothers on effective techniques for successful and continuous breastfeeding. The class is for those who want more information about breastfeeding and need the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful. You will learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, proper positioning and latch techniques, and what to expect in the early days. Also included are ways your partner can help. This class is taken before the birth of your baby. 

Lactation consultations
Lactation consultations for those with concerns about breastfeeding ex. you've struggled previously, or you have questions prior to baby arriving.

During your hospital stay, our lactation consultants provide hands-on assistance to help you and your baby get off to a great start. We offer guidance on positioning, latch, and addressing any initial challenges you may face with breastfeeding.

TMC offers outpatient breastfeeding support services, whether you deliver at TMC or not.

FREE weekly breastfeeding support group
Spend time with other moms and babies. Learn and share valuable parenting advice. Find out how much breast milk your baby is getting with a pre- and post- feed weight. Latch, positioning and other breastfeeding assistance will be offered by a certified lactation consultant.

When: Group meetings are held every Monday from 10-11:30 a.m. (excluding major holidays)

Where: TMC Canyon Room
Enter at the southeast entrance to TMC and follow the yellow signs.

Outpatient breastfeeding support clinic
One-on-one appointment with an IBCLC-certified nurse. Appointment only.

The Desert Cradle offers a full array of special items for your pregnancy and after your baby is born. It is conveniently located next to Labor & Delivery at the Southeast entrance. Browse the wide selection of merchandise for expectant mothers and new families. And, after your baby arrives, you will find the Desert Cradle filled with merchandise to make your life easier, including clothing from preemie through toddler sizes, stuffed animals and many specialty gift items.

Most importantly, the Desert Cradle offers a full line of breast pumps for both rental and sale, breastfeeding bras and clothing, as well as an extensive assortment of breastfeeding supplies and accessories. Our lactation consultants can help you choose the right pump and accessories for your needs, ensuring you have the tools to support successful breastfeeding.

The Desert Cradle staff includes certified bra fitters.
