Richtlijnen voor de media: Voor interviews en filmen is vooraf toestemming vereist. De privacy van de patiënt is een prioriteit.
Rapporten over de toestand van de patiënt
De federale Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act van 1996, of HIPAA, geeft strikte richtlijnen over wat voor soort informatie mag worden vrijgegeven. Op grond van deze privacyrichtlijnen mogen we alleen een toestandsrapport van één woord over een patiënt in ons ziekenhuis openbaar maken, zoals eerlijk, ernstig of kritiek, en alleen als in het onderzoek specifiek naar de naam van de patiënt wordt gevraagd. We kunnen geen andere informatie vrijgeven zonder schriftelijke toestemming. Bovendien kan een patiënt, of iemand die bevoegd is om namens de patiënt op te treden, ons vragen alle informatie achter te houden, waardoor we niet kunnen bevestigen of ontkennen dat de patiënt bij TMC is.
