Tucson Medical Center's Nurse Residency Program has earned "Accreditation with Distinction" from the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Practice Transition Accreditation Program.
This distinction represents the highest standard for nurse residency and fellowship programs and recognizes programs that demonstrate excellence in transitioning nurses to new practice settings.
"Earning Accreditation with Distinction is the highest level awarded by ANCC PTAP," said Kaili Hoover, Professional Development Specialist and Nurse Residency Coordinator, TMC Health. "It signifies that the program not only meets rigorous evidence-based standards, but also demonstrates exemplary performance and outcomes in supporting nurses' professional development, clinical competence and retention."
Accreditation was a nine month process that included an application, a 500-page self-study document, a survey for new grads and a virtual visit where managers, educators, preceptors and new grads answered questions about the program.
Less than 400 hospitals have accreditation and only a small portion of those have been awarded accreditation with distinction.
