In recognition of the profound impact the arts can have on healing and a person’s well-being, Tucson Medical Center and the TMC Health Foundation are hosting a brand-new spring concert series – Healing Harmony.
“Music has been found to have tremendous healing powers,” said Lauren Rabb, TMC Healing Art Program curator. “It helps regulate breath and heartbeat, calms the nerves and can even help reduce pain.”
Walking through the halls of Tucson Medical Center on any given day you will see artwork on the walls and hear the music of local musicians as they play for patients, visitors and hospital staff.
Now, the public can enjoy the sounds of lively music from locally- and internationally-renowned artists every Thursday evening in March at Rich With Life Park, a new outdoor amphitheater at Tucson Medical Center.
“This concert series features some TMC musicians who play live music in the hospital and bring moments of peace to stressful situations,” Rabb said. “They will be playing with their bandmates and highlighting their favorite musical styles, all in a joyful celebration to benefit TMC Health initiatives.”
Each concert features a different genre of music, including flamenco, Irish, jazz and tango with proceeds benefiting one of four TMC Health programs or initiatives - TMC Healing Art Program, Jenny Coomler Scholarship Fund, Marks Employee Assistance Fund and high-priority needs of TMC Health.
“We are excited to welcome the community to this fun, brand-new event series at our Rich with Life Park," said Deb Dale, Vice President and Chief Development Officer, TMC Health Foundation. "We hope to cultivate a community that understands the importance of music in healing and well-being, both inside and outside of the hospital walls."
