For visitors
We believe that the presence of supportive friends and relatives helps patients heal faster and makes them feel more relaxed and comfortable. Below please find information and guidelines on visiting Tucson Medical Center and our patients.
Information about your visit to Tucson Medical Center
Due to increased prevalence of influenza (flu) in Pima County, visitation restrictions are in effect.
Visitors exhibiting influenza-like symptoms are asked not to visit units. Adults should not visit within five days of onset of symptoms, children within 10 days of onset of symptoms. In extenuating circumstances, visitors with symptoms may be allowed to visit, pending approval by nursing staff.
This policy is applicable to all units with the exception of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. See below for visitor policy on NICU and PICU
NICU/PICU visitor restrictions
- Visitors with influenza-like symptoms are asked not to visit. If parents with symptoms must visit they will be asked wear a facemask, perform hand hygiene and be restricted from common areas.
- Children under 12 years old are not allowed to visit during the influenza/RSV season.
What are influenza-like symptoms?
Influenza-like symptoms are when someone has a fever greater than 100 F and at least one other symptom, such as cough, runny nose, sore throat, etc.
What if an individual with symptoms insists on visiting?
The individual will be asked to wear a facemask for the protection of the patient, health care providers and other visitors.
Visitation is always at the discretion of the care team based on your needs. The care team may need to ask visitors to leave for a number of reasons, including to:
