In order to provide a restful environment that promotes healing, TMC has Quiet Hours daily between 2 - 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. During Quiet Hours we ask that everyone lowers voices and limits noise as much as possible. During these hours, the lighting on the unit is dimmed, and deliveries and traffic on the unit is limited as much as possible. In situations where noise is unavoidable, earplugs are available by request and can be obtained simply by asking any hospital staff member.
Smoking is not allowed on the TMC campus. Smoking or vaping is not allowed within the hospital or campus grounds. Tucson Medical Center is a tobacco-free campus.
Chaplains are available to all TMC patients, their family members, visitors and staff. They are members of the health care team and collaborate with staff in addressing a patient's spiritual, emotional and cultural needs as a part of a care plan. Chaplains not only have extensive training, but provide a listening ear and are sensitive to the diversity of patients. Chaplains will listen, comfort, encourage and pray for those in their care in ways that help them draw upon their own spiritual resources for coping and healing.Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. TMC ChapelThe TMC Chapel is located on Booth Hallway just a few steps from the Cafeteria. The Chapel is always open for reflection, meditation, and prayer. There is a prayer intention book on the lectern on the right at the front of the main Chapel. Visitors are invited to share blessings and prayer requests by writing them in the prayer book. There are two smaller meditation rooms in the Chapel for those wanting more privacy--the Meditation Room and the Blessed Sacrament Room. Visitors are asked to be considerate of others who are using this sacred space and enter and use the space quietly and reverently.Accessing Spiritual Care ServicesTo arrange for a chaplain visit, please notify your nurse and ask that the nurse place a Spiritual Care consult. You may also call Spiritual Care Services, (520) 324-5198.
